GENDER SPECIFIC TREATMENT

Gender specific programs are offered at Caverhill Manor campus. An individual approach to gender issues is a central element of our core treatment program. This provides you, the participant, with a sense of security and well-being, and provides opportunity for the discussion of gender specific issues.

Evidence from the National Institute on Drug Abuse shows men and women require different prevention and treatment approaches. Providing gender-specific treatment helps bring to light the different biological, psychological, social and spiritual factors that influence men and women’s recovery. Having gender specific group therapy provides a safe environment that encourages the exploration of intimate and sensitive issues which are typically overlooked in co-ed groups.

Because your perspectives as a man or woman can differ, gender-specific therapy allows a treatment and prevention approach that builds on male/female experience, including health and relational perspectives unique to an individual’s needs. However, due to the close proximity of the male/female treatment centers, the Caverhill Manor campus is set up to allow for co-ed group activities.
